Axe Vale Festival ‘The Medieval Garden’

This year for the Axe Vale Festival we went with the theme of the Middle Ages to celebrate the 800 year anniversary of the Magna Carta ‘The Great Charter’. By recreating how a medieval garden would look like we used paving, gravel, plants & flowers that would have either been around in the Medieval times or look very similar to what would have been used over 800 years ago.

The Lonstone Vintage Collection helped create a well weathered appearance for the planters, staddlestones, bird bath, whetstone & curved bench with interest of the products every time we had a visitor.

The paving used in the Medieval Garden has been cut to provide us with a curved path leading into a circle, this product was supplied by Bradstone and is the Old Town Chelsea Cobble Paving. The gravel used is our 10mm Dorset Light Flint gravel which complements the paving & Lonstone collection perfectly.

The main stand designed & completed by Tony Parfoot Landscaping is boasting the Castacrete Tumbled Natural Indian Limestone in Yellow. The gravel used is the 10mm Quartzite pink rounds which gives a contrast to the paving on show. Towards the back of the stand Tony & Bob Parfoot have built a small retaining wall using Blue Lias Dressed Stone to retain the soil and bark chippings for the vast range of plants on display.
